On Monday evening local time, the Brazilian government issued a notice announcing that the country’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with Stella Li, Vice President and CEO of BYD Americas at the Planalto Palace to receive a briefing on BYD’s plan to produce the first batch of electric vehicles in Brazil by March 2025.

Simply put, BYD plans to create 10,000 direct job opportunities for its new factory in Brazil from January to August 2025 and aims to create a total of 20,000 jobs by the end of 2026. It is expected that there will be an increase of 2,000 jobs in January, 3,000 in May, and 5,000 in August.

Stella Li stated: “This will be the largest and most advanced electric vehicle production plant outside China. By the end of 2025, the production capacity is expected to reach 150,000 vehicles and by the end of 2026 it will reach 300,000 vehicles mainly serving the Brazilian and South American markets.”

It is reported that Stella Li has just returned from the renovation site at BYD’s Camacari factory in Bahia state where she confirmed fulfilling her previous commitment to President Lula – producing the company’s first hybrid system in Brazil. The project was completed jointly by a team of engineers consisting of Chinese and Brazilian nationals. She also revealed that BYD is establishing a large technology research center in Bahia state.

BYD achieved sales of new energy vehicles totaling at 506,804 units in November with a year-on-year growth rate of 67.86%. Among them were a total of overseas sales for new energy passenger cars reaching up to30 ,977 units including exports amounting to28 ,141 units.
