Africa has tremendous potential to grow electric vehicles – Audu

The Chief Executive Officer, Electric Motor Vehicle Company, (EMVC), Prince Mustafa Audu has expressed optimism over E-mobility playing a big role in economic development in Africa.

Speaking to journalists at ongoing COP29 in Baku Azerbaijan, he said government policies at decarbonization is already bearing fruit.

Audu called on foreign investors to come to Nigeria, saying the Tinubu government is keen on green economy.

“It’s important that we know that the electrification of the transport sector is the future of transportation.

“Therefore, we’re helping to guide and work hand in hand with some of the elements in government to make sure that E mobility is the thing that has come to stay.

“We’re the largest electric vehicle manufacturers and producers in Nigeria and we’re here at COP 29 in Baku to speak towards the positive gains that we’re making towards decarbonizing the transportation sector in Nigeria and Africa

“So far we have helped working out policies that are beneficial towards adoption of E mobility in Nigeria.We have sold well over 10,000 vehicles and increasing this year alone.

“We’ve built the largest factory in Nigeria in Giri, in Abuja for manufacturing. We’ve also helped to train a lot of people. We’re the first company to set up a programme, a polytechnic programme with the Federal Polytechnic offer to train people, a dedicated course for E mobility training people.

“We’re just about to embark on mapping out the entire EV ecosystem for Africa. We are going to be the biggest E mobility company in Africa. And I want you to know that you heard it here first.

“We have tremendous potential. Africa has tremendous potential to grow.

“And our batteries and our vehicles also affect three different sectors that are critical.
The transport sector, electrification sector, with rural electrification.”
