Automatic Number Plate Recognition Cameras Captured 850,000 Violations In 15-months – LASG
The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, says that the recently introduced Traffic Management Solution (TMS) device successfully captured 26,816 real-time traffic infringements in the last three months.
While speaking at press briefing last week, Mr. Osiyemi also disclosed that the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras helped traffic officers record over 856,000 violations between January 2023 and March 2024.
According to the commissioner, 53 ANPR cameras were installed at different locations in the state to help carry out daily monitoring routine checks for prescribed particulars violations.
IGP, Gov. Dapo Abiodun Witness The Launch Of Proforce Eagle 3 Drone Deployed To Fight Crime
PROFORCE Limited, a Nigerian-based armored vehicle specialist, recently showcased some of its cutting-edge products to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, during his visit to Ogun State.
During his visit to the State, the IGP, alongside Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, also witnessed the inaugural flight of the Proforce Eagle 3, a cutting-edge drone produced by Proforce Air Systems Limited.
The Proforce Eagle 3, an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) equipped with surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, is now actively deployed by the Ogun State government in its fight against crime, according to Proforce.
LASG Set To Launch 2,000 Gas-powered Mass Transit Buses, 250 Electric Taxis
The Lagos State Government has announced plans to take transportation to the next level through the launch of 2,000 new mass transit buses powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with investors.
The new initiative aimed at boosting transportation in Lagos State was disclosed by the State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi during the 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa – Ikeja on Tuesday.
To protect the environment from carbon emissions from Internal Combustion-engined vehicles, the Commissioner also confirmed that a private operator/ investor will, in the month of June, launch 250 new Electric powered (EV) Cabs.
FG Set To Deploy First Batch Of CNG Vehicles Ahead Of Tinubu’s First Anniversary In Office On May 29th
The Federal Government also announced plans to start the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles for mass transit ahead of Tinubu administration’s first anniversary on May 29th.
The move was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement on Sunday April 21st 2024.
According to him, the Federal Government allocated N100 billion last year to purchase 5,500 CNG-powered vehicles (buses and tricycles), 100 electric buses, and over 20,000 CNG conversion kits.
The funding, which is part of the N500 billion palliative budget, also supports the expansion of CNG refilling and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
